The Friends of Ellington Park have been given £500 from Kent Police’s unclaimed lost property fund.
The Friends will use the money to launch a campaign to try and prevent dog mess being left uncleared in the park.
They will be working with isle students to design posters as part of the campaign to urge owners to clear up after their pets.
Patricia Scutt, from the Friends of Ellington Park, said: ‘I’m part of a community group that looks after this park in Ramsgate. Many events are held here and the park has been revamped.
“However we have a big problem with pet owners who don’t pick up after their dogs. This donation will pay for a marketing campaign to educate and remind dog walkers to clean up.”
The Friends of Ellington Park was first started with the support of local PCSOs in a bid to transform the park from a crime hotspot into a great place to be.
The cheque was presented to the group by Thanet District Commander Chief Inspector Sharon Adley at Margate Police Station.
The Friends were nominated for the cash by PCSO John Litchfield.
The group is also inviting suggestions on how else the cash may be used.
